Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (Basic) Program

The Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (Basic) Program [IE Basic] was developed by Prof. Reuven Feuerstein. Consisting of specially designed tasks, it creates systematic, persistent and structured conditions to engage young children in problem solving and reasoning. The program provides them with a firm foundation to become skillful and analytic learners.

Who would benefit?

Any child of 4-8 years would benefit from the Program.

How does it work?

Step 1

Learning Propensity Assessment Device

The Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD) is the first step to IE Basic. It is consisted of a series of tests used to determine how an individual learns, which methods of teaching the individual best respond to, how much learning is retained and transferred to new and challenging tasks.

Step 2

IE Basic sessions

During the IE sessions, the trained Feuerstein mediator leads learners through increasingly complex cognitive tasks and works with them on how to analyze a problem and how to solve it systematically.

IE utilizes a style of teaching called mediation. In Feuerstein’s terms, mediation means to teach information to the learner in a way that is meaningful to them, so that they understand the lesson and are able to apply it in other contexts. Not only will the trainer work with individuals. Guidance to the support persons will be given to ensure that applications of thinking skills are transferred to all contexts for the individual.
