Dynamic assessment determines how an individual thinks and learns. Learning is the most important part of the procedure, as the examinee’s growth is continually measured against their own previous performance.
It is different from traditional educational and psychological evaluations in that the examinee’s potential is not determined from scores or single responses, but from observations of repeated responses to tasks and from utilizing mediation to teach the examinee how to solve problems and correctly respond.
Dynamic assessment not only measures potential. It also provides perspective on the best methods of intervention and style of learning. This allows accurate goal-setting and application of effective strategies. Prof. Reuven Feuerstein and Prof. David Tzuriel developed different dynamic assessment tools for different age groups and needs.
