Davis® Mastery for Math

The Davis® Mastery for Math was created by Ronald D. Davis. It provides tools and concepts to correct problems with regard to learning math. These learning conditions are sometimes called dyscalculia and can often accompany dyslexia, AD/HD or other learning challenges.

The Davis approach goes to the root issues that cause problems understanding and learning math with traditional teaching methods. Some individuals are confused by the words and Math symbols. When the foundation concepts for understanding all mathematics are mastered, learning math becomes easy.

Who would benefit?

Any individual aged above eight years, who experience challenges in dyscalculia (math difficulties) would benefit from the program.

How does it work?

Prior to the Program

Perceptual Ability Assessment would be arranged prior to the program. It aims to explore the challenges, learning styles, perceptual abilities as well as family support. The consultation takes around 1.5 hours.

The Davis® Mastery for Math is a three-step program. It is delivered on a one-to-one basis, usually arranged as a 30 to 48-hour intensive.

Step 1

Davis® Focusing Tools

Assisting the individual to develop accurate perception, and establish the ability to regulate their focus, stress and energy levels.

Step 2

Davis® Symbol & Concept Mastery

Facilitating the individual to truly master the alphabet, math vocabulary as well as the foundation concepts underlying all mathematics which are Self, Change, Consequence, Cause, Effect, Before, After, Time, Sequence and Order vs. Disorder.

Step 3

Davis® Math Function Exercises & Application

Guiding the individual to complete 12 exercises leading to competency with arithmetic (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing). Working through comprehension practice with Math problems.

Home Practice and Follow-up Consultations

After the intensive, it is necessary to conduct home exercises to complete Davis Symbol Mastery for 21 Math Trigger Words as well as to consolidate learnt tools. A maximum of three post-program consultations would be arranged to monitor progress and adjust strategies.
